What I can help you with!

Hi! I am Jean-Leonard, an experienced and HCPC-registered qualified counselling psychologist, and I am here to support you.

Are you curious about why relationships keep ending in the same way?

Relationships shouldn’t make us feel on edge, angry or empty, and therapy can change that.

You deserve to connect with others and be able to enjoy your relationships now.

One size doesn’t fit all. I adopt a range of diverse psychological models to understanding people’s needs and planning a psychological therapy that suits each individual.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • I offer face-to-face and online therapy using Zoom. Ideally, therapy sessions take place at the same time each week. However, I am happy to offer flexible appointments according to your needs.

  • I am trained to provide a range of different psychological therapies and I am convinced that one size doesn’t fit all.

This allows me to develop a tailored treatment plan based on your specific needs and preferences, as well as based on the evidence of efficacy.

Overall, my clinical work is informed by attachment-based and psychodynamic therapy, systemic psychotherapy, CBT and EMDR. Don’t worry if you don’t know about these different techniques – we can discuss it.

  • Unfortunately, there is no straightforward answer to this question. It depends on your circumstances and what you would like to take away from therapy. During the first one or two sessions we will focus on exploring, clarifying and formulating your difficulties, as well as what changes you would like to make. This stage of consultation is called assessment.

I will then discuss with you recommendations about what kind of treatment I consider may be helpful, and the likely timeframe for potential treatment. Sometimes a few sessions can improve things significantly, but longer-term support may be more beneficial. I will encourage you to discuss if therapy is working for you and whether you feel further sessions are needed.

  • I offer an initial 20-minute phone consultation free of charge. This is an opportunity to think together about what you need, and whether I am the right fit for you.

It might be that my area of expertise is the best suited to your needs. If I don’t think I have the right skill set for what you need, I will signpost you to another therapist or psychologist who could better suit your needs.

Research has consistently shown that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is the most significant factor in predicting the efficacy of therapy.

If we both feel that we can work well together, we will arrange our first appointment.
